
Joshua Kreiter is a current graduate student at The University of Michigan School of Social Work and a recent graduate of Michigan State University where he majored in psychology with a minor in media photography with an emphasis on ethical and visually appealing journalism, photography, and videography. He has travelled across the country documenting various milestones not only in his own life but in the lives of those around him, striving to provide real representations of life as it happens.
Focusing on current events that influence society around him, Joshua strives to report and deliver images and videos that highlight issues and promote possible solutions in the process.
He has highlighted issues such as food waste, food insecurity, homophobia, transphobia, war and genocide protests, and gun violence. Places of interest include Las Vegas, NV, and the mid-Michigan area, specifically Lansing and East Lansing.
Joshua is motivated by helping people become educated on issues through the medium of visual storytelling as it is one of the most effective and accessible forms of education available.
He also creates images from his travels across the country, highlighting historic and eye-catching attractions and people.
Recent Awards include his documentary 'Food Waste and Sustainability: A Las Vegas Field Study' winning first place in the 2024 UURAF competition at Michigan State University as well as his documentary 'Eclectic Abduction: Fashion from Another Planet' placing 15th in the nation in the 2024 Hearst Journalism Awards Program, also through Michigan State University.
Aside from visual storytelling, Joshua is committed to community and personal enrichment with a deep passion for social work, where he will complete his master's degree in social work at the University of Michigan with a concentration in Interpersonal Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse counseling.
